Kentuckians Need
Housing Solutions Now!
Workforce Housing Tax Credits Will Help
Kentucky’s housing crisis has landed thousands of our residents in untenable living situations. Commonwealth Alliance for Housing Solutions is a group of individuals and organizations who are eager to help find a solution. The demand for affordable housing far outweighs the supply, and too many hardworking Kentuckians are left without reasonable housing solutions.
But there is hope. The Kentucky General Assembly can pass HOUSE BILL 86, the Workforce Housing Tax Credits bill, to help solve this problem.
-
Nearly a quarter of Kentuckians spend more than half their income on home rental costs. That means struggling and living paycheck to paycheck for most.
-
Prior to the pandemic, Kentucky was short 75,000 units for working families. With increased labor and supply costs, the crisis has worsened in the Commonwealth.
-
Twenty other states have already proven that state workforce housing tax credit programs increase units available without harming the budget.
-
$790.2 million of combined construction and operating tax revenues resulting from the program would go to state, county, and local governments.
